The Western Wisconsin Blue Devils would like to announce the tryout dates for the 2011 spring season. We will be celebrating our 10th season this coming spring.
We have had the opportunity to have many local players as well as players that are not so local go thru our program. Many of these players have continued playing or
coaching hockey, and some of them have advanced in other areas. With that said, this coming season we are able to offer a skills camp, run by past players/ coaches
who are still either coaching OR playing at the next level. This will be an added feature that will be included in your team registration fee.
You will notice from the tryout brochure that we will be having fall tryouts this year for the 2011 season. The fall tryouts will mainly serve organizational purposes.
With all of the other tryouts in the spring, we have had to rush order jerseys, rush scheduling, and rush the program along in the month of March. With fall tryouts we
will be able to get a jump on all of the in house operations and be ready to play hockey in the spring. There will be a ONE TIME $30 tryout fee and that will include 3
sessions of ice. Two sessions will be run in the fall and then 1 final tryout in the spring prior to posting the team. It will be possible to participate in both of
either of the tryout times in the fall. The intention is to have a portion of each team selected from the fall tryouts so that we can establish schedules and be assured
of some commitment. It is possible that players will be added, but not removed, following the spring tryout. This is our first attempt at fall tryouts and some things will
be a work in progress, but the Blue Devils feel that this process will ease our scheduling issues in the spring and allow the WWBD organization and participating families to plan ahead.
The main reason the Blue Devils have been around for 10 years is that we have a very dedicated and committed coaching staff. They have great knowledge of the game at
various levels and they also have a good vision of what these young athletes need to achieve. You will notice that we once again have added some names to our staff and
we are very excited to have them on board. On the girl’s side, we have added Rachel Bible and Cyndy Kenyon who both played for Wisconsin under Mark Johnson where they
won multiple national championships. Jamie Kenyon, who now plays at University of Minnesota- Duluth, will also be assisting them.
One addition to our program this spring will be some participation by the new Coulee Region Chill Junior team based in Onalaska. This is a new North American Hockey
league junior team that has offered to have players and staff attend some practices and camps. Please go to their website at http://crchill.pointstreaksites.com/view/crchill
and see what they are all about. Their first home game will be Friday, October 29 at 7pm at the Omni Center in Onalaska.
And finally, one last added feature for the Blue Devils this spring will be the use of additional rinks in the WMHL area to accommodate travel for more players.
Tomah will still be the home rink, and the majority of practices will be held there, but we are going to attempt to have practices at other locations. We feel
that travel has become somewhat of an issue with some families and we would like to try and accommodate the best we can.
We are looking forward to another great season and we hope to see you all at tryouts in October.

The Blue Devils staff would like to congratulate Devon Heim (1997) on making the Kohlman Cup 1997 Team Wisconsin. We would also like to congratulate Nick LaRue (1991) and Nathan Trannel (1991) on there recent success with the Team WI Showcase team. The Team WI Showcase team won the 2010 Minnesota NIT Tournament in April! All 3 of these players have been long time supporters of the Blue Devils program! Way to go guys!
The Blue Devils staff would also like to congratulate the following Blue Devils players on making Region 6 WAHA Cup teams. 1997's (Devin Heim, Josh Repaal, Zach Trautsch, Luke Noble, and Zach Zillmer) and 1998's (Sam Dabrowski and Griffin Treanor).
